Quake Tutorial – Wall Push ZTN

As requested this is a brief summary and video on how to do the Ztn Wall Push as I’d like to call it from the teleporter down to grenade launcher and to rocket launcher in an attempt to pursue an elusive +backer, with this move it adds to speed and surprise, but be careful because if you hit the wall wrong then you’ll just stop dead and look a bit of an idiot.

As you can see from the video above I walk down the first few steps and then begin to jump and strafe left and then right otherwise if you jump too soon from coming out of the teleporter you’ll catch your head on the wall or ceiling in front of you. So once you walk down the stairs and make your first initial strafe jump, then counter it with a right strafe and then a fast left to clip the wall to propel you pass it, or even through it, it seems, but as you clip this wall you gain a bit of extra speed and momentum to catapult you to your desired location, but then you must avoid catching yourself on the corner of the doorway leading to the shards and stairs into the rocket launcher room.

Hopefully I’ve explained this well if not and you still find it difficult to do or to understand what i’ve said just leave a message and i’ll try again to explain it in further detail, or to provide movement keys so you can see what i’m pressing exactly at those precise moments to be able to make this wall push.

I also have to point out that doing these videos in windowmode and using fraps, decreases the fps and slows the movement down some what, but if you get it right yourself when you practice it you’ll see in full motion how fast it is and how much acceleration you get when going through that corner of the wall and towards rocket launcher room.

  • Master it dude, it really helps and adds to speed and advantages throughout the map, you know any sort of run up you get and there’s a corner you can do this sort of move on btw, so any maps you think you can hit a corridor/doorway and catapult yourself through it can be done. I’ll give another example of this soon on qzdm6.
